Strahan is located on spectacularly beautiful Macquarie Harbour on the West Coast of Tasmania. In the area you can explore the dramatic landscapes of the world's last great temperate wilderness - in the rugged mountain ranges, dense rainforests, wild rivers and glaciated peaks of the West Coast and Central Highlands you'll discover wildlife, scenery and vegetation unlike anywhere else on Earth.
Famous Ocean Beach with its huge expanse of sandy beach and views of the Southern Ocean is only a 5 minute drive away. When the breeze hits your face it is either from Antarctica or South America. This windswept beach is a truly wild area. Walk the dog and watch the stunning sunsets, keeping a watch out for the platypus in the creeks on dusk.
Walk or drive into town (approx 1km) and you will find cafes, restaurants, galleries and craft shops along the quay. Here you will also find information on walks, waterfalls, safe swimming, lookouts, the history of the area and ways to explore this beautiful wilderness, whether by foot, car, boat, train, 4WD, helicopter or sea plane.
Fern Gully Hideaway is a available for you and your family to have fun relax and unwind. This spacious home was recently opened to the public and refurnished, with quality, wellbeing and comfort in mind. A fenced back yard and a pool table, table tennis table, fooz ball, air hockey and dart board available in the large shed will keep the family amused. Also there is a large dog bed, feeding bowls, drying towel and a ball or two to keep the family pet happy. You can unwind with a refreshing drink, listen to some music or take time out to a read a book or even tone up on one of the exercise mats. Parking is available for up to 4 vehicles at the end of the driveway, next to a large sunny front garden with natural bush to explore and shield you from the road, Fern Gully Hideaway is the perfect family holiday.
